OUR STORY

Bayside Sports Medicine Group’s evolution into the successful, multidisciplinary practice it is today is an inspiring story of passion, commitment and community.

Clinic Director / Physiotherapist Tessa Hinds started the business in 2011, working out of a tiny room at the rear of a Black Rock bike shop. Having practised extensively both locally and overseas, Tessa felt her work ethic and customer focus could help patients more effectively out on her own.

Within a few months Tessa brought in physiotherapist and university colleague Sarah Golding as a partner. With their combined experience, community focus, and ‘above and beyond’ ethos, their client base quickly grew. By 2012 they had moved to larger, purpose-built premises and Physio @ Sandringham was born. Remedial massage was added to their rapidly growing business.

With a desire to expand their client rehabilitation programs, integrating Clinical Pilates was the next logical step in 2016. A year later Bayside Sports Podiatry moved in next door.

Rebranding as Bayside Sports Medicine Group in 2020, they opened a new, purpose-built studio for Clinical Pilates/Rehabilitation, AlterG and GLA:D programs.

They now have numerous highly-trained physiotherapists with various specialities, massage therapists, a dietician and share space with a podiatrist and a consulting sports physician.

“We’ve always been customer focused and passionate about health and fitness,” Sarah says. “It’s so rewarding to get people back doing what they love.”

Tessa adds: “I never imagined growing to this size, especially when I think of how we started. At the end of the day it’s all about helping people achieve the quality of life they deserve.”
